In my years specializing in environmental policy and climate change, the core objective was always "sustainable development" in order to meet the needs of the present without compromising the future. When I transitioned into elite athletics and later into holistic health practices, I realized we rarely apply this same "public policy" rigor to our own physical and domestic environments.
Most wellness routines are "extractive." We push our bodies for immediate results (the CrossFit equivalent of clear-cutting a forest) without a long-term restoration plan. To live well, we need to shift from a mindset of short-term performance to one of Functional Longevity.
The Body as a Sanctuary
In environmental science, a system is only as strong as its foundation. As a coach, I’ve moved people from zero athletics into Olympic lifting and gymnastics. The secret isn't intensity; it’s the integrity of movement.
-
Biological Sustainability: Are you moving in a way that preserves your "human infrastructure"?
-
Resilience: True strength isn’t just about power; it’s about the ability to recover and adapt to the "climate" of your life.
Designing a High-Vibe Environment
Your home is the immediate environment that dictates your internal climate. Drawing from my work in economic development and public involvement, I view the home as a Multi-functional Sanctuary.
-
Biophilic Design: This is the art of connecting people and the natural world within homes, office buildings and public spaces. This isn't just a trend; it's a policy for nervous system regulation. Bringing in organic textures and unique greenery reduces the "pollution" of high-stress living. By designing your home space in this way, we can create restorative spaces that improve mental health, lower blood pressure, and boost productivity.
-
Intentional Flow: Just as we design public spaces for better human interaction, your home should be designed for Creative Activity. Whether it's a dedicated space for wiring a boat or a kitchen set up for medicinal nutrition, your space should nudge you toward your best rhythm.
The Policy of the Self
We are the founders of our own personal ecosystems. By making the conscious decision to invest in high-quality materials, sustainable movement, and a rhythmic home life, we aren't just "living"; we are practicing Environmental Stewardship of the Soul.
