Kitchen Island Cheese Board

Entertaining Thanksgiving

Fresh fruit, cheese and other gnashes make this cheese board a beautiful centerpiece and will satisfy your guests for hours.

If you're someone who loves to treat your freinds and family to something a little special on the holidays, this is a great option. You may even want to make this a holiday tradition that everyone can contribute to.

Build in Height

Cheese board with stacked cutting boards and a shiney, mini-Christmas tree.Adding height to your design will add dimension. If you are a big entertainer you may have a number items around the house you can use. Stack items, and fabric or whatever works. Another easy touch is to have multiple objects at varying heights.

Below are some ideas but don't be afraid to be creative with what you have around the house:

  • Plastic food container with fabric or lovely kitchen towel draped over it.
  • Cardboard box wrapped in paper.
  • Multiple wood cheese boards stacked.
  • Granite slab.

Add visual interest

In the feature image of this blog, I used a shimmery Christmas tree atop two very thick and rustic cheese boards I made years ago. I also added Himalayan candle holders that I had in my front room. Be creative and gather a few things.

Get creative and try:

  • Fairy lights.
  • Candle holders.
  • Wood rounds.
  • Pretty plates or bowls.
  • Fabric pumpkins.
  • Moss.
  • Mason jars loaded with lights.
  • Vase of fresh flowers or greens.
  • Fresh Rosemary sprigs.
  • Evergreen cuttings from your yard.
  • Servingware.

Snacks for kids and adults

Our family has a lot of little ones. Making things easy for moms and dads with an endless supply of healthy snacks can really make the day go easier. I try and prep some of the fruit to make it easy for little fingers to grab. I peeled some mandarin oranges in advance, sprinkled nuts and berries in little groupings and pre-cut apple slices. There are also some quality goods on the board so adults also feel they had a delicious treat. Try of these gnashes:

  • Crackers
  • Cheeses
  • Grapes
  • Nuts
  • Sliced apples
  • Honey comb
  • Cold cuts
  • Olives
  • Bread
  • Pickled vegatables
  • Dips and spreads: Hummus, chutney, honey

Getting people involved in creating your board could be a nice way to be inclusive. Perhaps this will become a new family tradition. ❤
